Rodmatic Hytek to Demonstrate Subcontract Capability at Autosport Engineering

12 November 2008MWC 1820

Autosport Engineering Exhibition NEC Birmingham - 8-9 January 2009

The first-ever exhibition attendance by precision small batch subcontractor Rodmatic Hytek at Autosport Engineering in January will create the ideal opportunity to expose its recent £1.6 million investment in turn-mill and wire-cut EDM machining that introduces a fast response, small batch machining operation to the specialist automotive and autosport industry.

Said managing director Brian Steatham: "Having invested heavily in the right equipment to provide a high technology machining service that is based in Reading, the doorstep to many world-leading companies involved in the autosport industry, we are well-placed to provide a fast response service for machined components. We therefore feel the Autosport Engineering Exhibition will provide the ideal venue to expose our capability."

Multi-axis, turn-mill machining cycles are employed by Rodmatic Hytek on specialist automotive and autosport components

Over the last three years Rodmatic Hytek has developed a true business partner working relationship with its customers using its in-house solid-modelling CAD to CAM facilities and investment in a single operation capability using multi-axis machine tools. These include the Daewoo Puma MX2000 ST turn-mill centre, two Lynx 3-axis lathes, two Star 9 and 7-axis CNC sliding head lathes and a Fanuc wire EDM, all able to process to high orders of accuracy and consistency including difficult to machine materials.

Indeed, recent contracts for steering, suspension and transmission components, fittings, fasteners and connectors have been won as well as the supply of out-of-production spares. Said Mr Steatham: "We are also willing to invest in equipment such as the wire EDM to provide a specialist service. This has opened new doors in providing customers with a single source supply."

Meanwhile, full production support that includes management systems, 3-D CMM and non-contact measurement, and a Dürr 80C programmable component cleaning centre, all add to the capability to provide a machining service that also enables the support of customers product life-cycles from initial design and prototyping into small batch production. Due to its flexibility, Rodmatic Hytek also has the capability to cater for the varying demands associated with ramp-up and ramp-down volumes as well as overspill production requirements.
