Edm Technology Transforms Rodmatic Tool Production

With more than 1,700 different form tools being used in a typical year to service its 38 multi-spindle automatic lathes engaged in turned part production, the switch to the use of wire EDM technology by Rodmatic Multico, has enabled special tool costs to be slashed by half. In addition, the volume production operation of the Rodmatic Group based in Reading, which has one of the largest multi-auto shops in the UK, has been able to reduce its stockholding of tools while considerably improving is response to customers on new components, and revert away from sub-cotnract tool manufacture.more

Rodmatic develops automated production for green technology contract

Rodmatic Multico, the volume production division of the Reading based Rodmatic subcontract operation has completed the first stage investment to produce 20,000 mechanical components a week for assembly in energy efficiency monitoring equipment. The contract that currently requires the processing of some 40 tonnes of material a month will eventually lead to fully automated cell machining strategies that will run around-the-clock.more

Cycle times reduced by a third using form tools
