High volume production of precision turned parts

Rodmatic Multico expertise is based on the high volume production of components from 10 mm to 72 mm diameter by 180 mm long. Indeed, so impressive is the automated production strategy involving 37 multi-spindle automatic lathes that some 14 tonnes of material is processed every day and throughout 2005, an average 1.7 million precision turned parts and components were shipped each month.

To ensure security of supply, the backbone of the business, some 100 tonnes of material is held in stock at the Reading factory and to help tooling up new precision turned parts, components and re-setting of existing orders, over 1,000 sets of collets and feed cams and ample proven tooling are held in the stores. A wealth of attachments enable back-end, single-cycle machining, slotting and second operation work to be performed with automated and hand deburring.

Customer Relationships

Long standing customer relationships are prime with consignment stock supply and Just-in-Time supply strategies. A lean manufacturing background fuels a continuous improvement programme and process capability driven quality control is continuously applied.

Production Control

A fully integrated Jobshop manufacturing and production control system is incorporated from sales order processing to delivery and invoicing. Throughout the company, electronic Intranet communication is established, and remote access to customers for current production data is available.

Toolroom

Within Rodmatic Multico is a toolroom and CNC tool and cutter grinding area with 3 optical profile grinders and surface grinders able to produce and service circular and flat form tools and help ensure all elements of production are held under strict control for precision and on-time changeover.
